Great Alternative To Snowchains

Verified Purchase Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2023 on Amazon.com

These are made with a thicker material than the Autosock. They are more durable, higher quality. Easy installation, and removal. Only drawback is maximum speed is 25mph. Great for use on packed snow.

Very functional and useful in a slick surface

The snow tire socks are an excellent emergency equipment item. I highly recommend this product as an emergency item, if you do not travel in snowy environments regularly. I used them to a ski trip in Colorado and was surprised how functional the product worked. Our VBRO was located on a packed snow packed single lane road with steep grades (+11%) over short distances - the socks provided a sure footing.

They just work!

We have a 2WD Sprinter van with 265-75R16 tires. These fit like a glove and just plain work. We have a house in the Colorado mountains and our street is not maintained by the county. These go on/off VERY easily and make getting around the neighborhood and out to the highway an absolute breeze. Literally 5 mins to put both socks on. A+++ product.

I was skeptical, but having driven through multiple snow storms with multiple vehicles and used chains with much frustration, these snow socks were better than I could have imagined. I have a 1992 F150 FWD and I tested the snow socks with the 4WD on due to the danger of the road I was on. I was not able to test the socks with the 4WD off so I can only speak to how my vehicle worked with them on and in 4WD. I drove though aprox. 12-14 inches of snow. I tried to slide and couldn't, whereas I was sliding with only the 4WD before I used the snow socks. The traction and absolute ease with I had using the snow socks was impressive. it took me maybe 3-5 minutes to put both on and drove at speeds up to 35-40 mph with an average of 25mph and the socks stayed on and was even able to go through patches of semi dry pavement where the trees prevented snow from falling. I don't normally write reviews, but I have been telling everyone I know about these and I highly recommend to anyone who needs better options to the frustration of putting on and using chains. Highly Recommend.

I was stuck in snow. Towtruck driver said my car was likely too low for chains and told me about snow socks. They really do work just as good as chains- if not better. If there is a chain requirement these are accepted and there is no concern of them damaging your car due to breakage- as chains often do..

Awesome invention

Verified Purchase Reviewed in the United States on March 2, 2023 on Amazon.com

Used these last week in one of the worst snow blizzards we've had in a while and they were excellent! I was amazed at how much traction they have in the snow/ice. We were parked on a slope and was able to reverse right out without any tire spin. *Note: these snow socks require a bit of strength/force to put on & take off. Once these things get wet they grip/shrink to the tire (imagine how jeans become harder to take off when wet :-) ); so get ready for some tug of war. Anyway, I was able to drive in the 30's mph without all the noise that chains tend to make. Tire chains will always be classics, but overall these will be my preference.

Effective in maintaining traction. 👍🏻👌😎

Verified Purchase Reviewed in the United States on January 7, 2022 on Amazon.com

Highly recommended. They are just as effective as snow chains or cables, but if the cable breaks it can tear up your fender or worse. These are just like a fitted sheet you slide over your tire. They want you to stay under 30 mph, which isn’t a problem because everybody else will be doing five or 10. I had zero problem climbing steep hills. It was like I was in a four-wheel drive pick up truck. And it only took me 6 minutes to slide both on. 🙂🙂🙂

Put these on for some steep, snowy, mountain roads. Got them on in less than five minutes without a hitch. And they were approved by the local California highway patrol doing inspections. They did great on steep windy roads that were covered in packed snow. Didn’t slide one bit. Left them on after a day of riding and they were a little tough to take off after use, but totally doable and not a complaint. Just threw them in the wash, so I’ll follow my review up if there’s any durability issues. But hoooooly crap these things are amazing and they get nothing short of high praise from me.

These work great. Don't let them touch pavement and they should last a long time.

Took these on a ski trip recently and used them on our FWD SUV. We tested them on a moderate snow hill. The first attempt was without the socks, and we made it about 40 yards with traction control active before we could not climb further. We backed down and installed the socks (took only a couple minutes), then attempted the same hill. The car climbed with ease and the traction control lamp did not light up. Remember to take them off as soon as you get back to pavement, as they will get damaged easily. They weigh very little and are easy to store. 10/10 would recommend.

Works great for me

Verified Purchase Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2023 on Amazon.com

I got these primary for plowing with my SUV. A particular spot in my driveway is pretty steep. Usually when plowing I avoid plowing this spot, otherwise I need to winch myself back out. I didn't want regular chains because they will chew up the driveway. I finally got to test out these socks. I plowed this troublesome section of my driveway first without the socks, and sure enough I had to winch out. I then put on the socks, and viola, I backed right out, a little bit of slipping on the rear tires, which is expected, but the front tires pushed me right up without even a whimper. Wonderful! Granted, I don't need to make any sharp turns plowing my driveway, so I don't know how well they would hold up for more extreme use. But for me, these seem perfect so far ... well, perfect except for the price. They are a bit pricey, but worth it if they hold up over the long run. Also sad you're not supposed to drive over 25 MPH, but I think that's probably a safety thing since these cover the entire tread of the tire, therefore you lose the primary safety features of rubber at higher speeds. But they do feel extremely well made and durable. It took me about 5 minutes, total, to install these which was the first time I tried to do so. I'll probably be able to do it faster next time. I saw in the photo and video that I didn't do a good job with that passenger side, I put it on like that, it didn't slip like that from driving. I'll be heading out in the wilderness with winch and these socks for more testing, but so far so good. For those that may be wondering like many about "how" can these work. I can feel small shards of metal embedded in the material, so these seem to act like studded tires, except the studs per inch is significantly higher than that of studded tires. And they don't protrude so much that they too would chew up a driveway, they are just at the surface of the material. The metal is on the inside too so it can grab onto the rubber as well.

I am amazed with these snow socks. too me a bit to install them, maybe 10 minutes. took me about the same time to get them off. Never lost traction once even in 6 inches of snow. Stopped on an incline and was able to get moving with no loss of traction. If you have a low clearance tire to fender this is a very good option. No chain rumble great traction.

Large does fit 245/35 ZR18 tires, seems easy enough to install / remove

Reviewed in the United States on April 11, 2022 on Amazon.com

Was not sure if these would fit the wider rear tires on my BMW 135i but these do! I had found these after I was slipping around with my winter tires. Unfortunately due to a water pump failure & replacement, the foul weather we had to give these a go had come & went. Does not look like I will get to try these out until next winter season. These do fit my tires & are not too difficult to stretch over the tires although low fender clearance does not help. Once you place these over, drive a little forward so you can then finish placing around your tires, you can then adjust a little as needed, roll forward again some & finish adjusting. There is an arrow pointing for forward to help with placement for rotation. This set comes with a storage bag to keep these in your trunk until needed, a plastic bag to hold these after use when wet & a set of gloves. The quality seems decent for the price. Hopefully next winter season I can finally give these a go to se if they outperform the winter tires I already have (and a descent brand & almost new tread depth, though they would perform better). From what I have read about these socks & the other reviews, these should work our well. I will need to update this review in about 8 months.

My son n law bought a huge new luxury Kia Carnival. As well as it is appointed . It is not equipped with AWD. For the 2 months you just have to put up with the snow if we get it . Because of its length and weight. The front wheels were spinning a bit. I seen this item and sent it to him as a gift . If I didn’t see it for myself I wouldn’t Believe it. The fabric was clawing at the snow surface grabbing it. Here are the cons. His vehicle has the optional huge rims which give just about 2 inches to get your hands over the tire and under the fender.especially in the rear. It was hard . They wear fast or tear if on payment. So as soon as the snow is removed take them off . I soaked them in soapy warm water and they are not white anymore but still ready to use . They are a bit pricey. But considering the price of 20 inch black rims. And using chains to scratch them. Made this a priceless worthy item .
